Job description

We are seeking a skilled Operations Engineer with a strong focus on MySQL database administration to join our team, this role requires hands-on experience with manual database edits, troubleshooting, and a deep understanding of MySQL best practices, While the primary focus is MySQL, familiarity with the underlying infrastructure, Linux systems, and basic monitoring principles will be beneficial.

Job requirements

Responsibilities:

· Perform necessary manual edits and data corrections within the MySQL database with accuracy and attention to detail.

· Diagnose and resolve database performance issues and outages!

· Troubleshoot issues that may span across the database, operating system, and basic network layers.

· Collaborate with development teams to understand database requirements and optimize queries.

· Monitor database health and performance using relevant tools.

· Contribute to the documentation of database procedures.

· Communicate effectively with the Development team to understand application database requirements.

· Collaborate with developers on database design, schema changes, and query optimization.

Qualifications:

· Diploma degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.

· Proven experience (2+ years) as a Database Administrator or Operations Engineer with a strong focus on MySQL.

· Basic understanding of Linux operating systems and command-line interface for database-related tasks.

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

· Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

· Exposure to monitoring and logging tools like Dynatrace and the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).

· Basic understanding of API concepts.

· Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with development teams.

· Experience working in an environment where Operations collaborates closely with Development (e.g., DevOps principles).
